Vampire Levels

As illustrated in the manga, Hino Matsuri shows us how the vampires are
classified (plus the smexy Takuma Ichijou).

At the top of the pyramid is the Level A Vampires, otherwise known as the purebloods. They are the smallest group of vampires but they are the most powerful and respected of all levels.
An example would be Kuran Kaname. |

After the level A vampires, it would be the level B vampires, also called as nobles. They are next in authority after the purebloods. Nobles, in some cases like Hanabusa Aidou and Senri Shiki, are granted special abilities.
Our examples would be the cousins Hanabusa Aidou and Akatsuki Kain. |
| The largest group of vampires would be the level C vampires, the normal vampires. As the name suggests, they are ordinary vampires. | |
![]() |
Level D vampires are ex-human vampires. In Vampire Knight, humans can only be turned into vampires by level A vampires or purebloods.
Kiryuu Zero was turned into a vampire by Shizuka Hiou when he was a child. |

Not included in the pyramid, are the level E vampires. The reason they are not included is that they are not worthy of the title “vampire” for they’re ex-human which has reached their breaking point or shattering. The ex-human cannot suppress his blood-lust so he turns into a level E vampire, or a monster.
Kurosu Yuuki, as a child, has been attacked by a level E vampire but saved by Kuran Kaname. Also, during Yuuki and Kiryuu Zero’s trip to the town, they encountered a level E vampire that was killed by Takuma Ichijou and Senri Shiki. |
